Overview

Internship supporting the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in New York to integrate human rights into the work of intergovernmental bodies.


Key Responsibilities
  • Researching, identifying and analysing international human rights trends in intergovernmental bodies
  • Providing support to the organisation of relevant meetings
  • Supporting the gathering of best practices, statistics and data related to intergovernmental meetings
  • Supporting human rights officers on specific priority countries, regions and/or thematic areas
  • Assisting in drafting and editing various documents, reports, and outreach materials
  • Attending relevant meetings
Required Experience

No prior experience is necessary

Qualifications
  • Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) OR
  • Enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
  • Relevant coursework in human rights, law, international affairs, public administration, communication
Other Details
Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish)
Contract Duration
Initial period of three (3) months, renewable for a combined period of six (6) months
