Overview
Internship opportunity with the Special Procedures Sections of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva, Switzerland. The role supports mandate holders in their thematic research and policy development on a wide range of human rights issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of official country visits, including drafting country-specific human rights assessments.
- Analyze human rights issues in cases and complaints addressed to mandate holders.
- Draft letters on cases and complaints, summarizing alleged violations and preparing legal analyses.
- Collect information and conduct research for briefing notes, statements, and other documents.
- Take notes of meetings with stakeholders, including civil society representatives.
- Attend sessions of the Human Rights Council (HRC) and assist with related activities and events.
- Assist in the organization of meetings and seminars.
- Translate documents.
- Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor.
Required Experience
APPLICANTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAMME.
Qualifications
- Graduate or enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master's degree or equivalent, or higher).
- OR graduate or enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (Bachelor's degree or equivalent).
- Preferably in the area of law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or a related field.
