Overview

The Education Technical Advisor will ensure the design, implementation, and monitoring of high-quality education programs, providing technical leadership and strategic planning for Save the Children's education sector work in oPt.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for the education sector, including developing and rolling out an education strategy.
  • Ensure technical input for country annual plans and other planning documents.
  • Represent Save the Children in the national Education Cluster.
  • Provide technical expertise and quality assurance for education programs.
  • Coordinate the development of a technical capacity building plan for education staff.
  • Develop and maintain a database of tools and guidance for program quality.
  • Oversee knowledge sharing and ensure monitoring and evaluation results are used to improve programs.
  • Lead fundraising needs identification and proposal development for education programs.
  • Line-manage projects for technical support to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
  • Support the development of monitoring, information management, and reporting systems.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring of activities.
  • Lead external representation of Save the Children’s education work.
  • Represent Save the Children in technical areas to government and other agencies.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical leadership role in education for an NGO, UN agency or other development or humanitarian organisation.
  • Previous management experience in an NGO or other humanitarian environment, including experience directing and implementing programs for children in both emergency and development contexts.
  • Proven experience leading education in emergencies (EiE) programming and in participating in emergency coordination forums.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of raising funds and developing proposals for education programmes in excess of $1million.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of the Monitoring and Evaluation processes and methodologies.
Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, development or other relevant social science degree.
