Overview

This internship position is in the Communications and External Relations (CER), Office of the Secretary-General, UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), based in Geneva, Switzerland. The role assists in creating compelling content and performing edits for digital and print formats.


Key Responsibilities
  • - Assist in creating compelling content around sustainable development, trade, investment, finance or the digital economy.
  • - Perform initial edits and help drafting and editing varied content for digital and print formats.
  • - Support the creation and development of multimedia content.
  • - Assist in identifying the latest editorial practices, including Artificial Intelligence tools for communications, to enhance workflow efficiency.
Required Experience

No working experience is required for this internship.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Should be computer literate in standard software applications, as well as in Adobe InDesign and Datawrapper;
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • The University degree must be in the area of economics, including environmental economics, development, political science or other social sciences deemed appropriate.

Knowledge of French and Spanish is desirable

Remuneration
The internship is unpaid and full-time, requiring interns to work five days a week (40 hours). Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
