Overview

A Fire Prevention Specialist works to prevent fires and minimize damage. They inspect buildings, install safety devices, and teach people how to respond during a fire to protect lives and property.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and testing of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and fire extinguishers.
  • Install and calibrate fire detection and suppression equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on fire systems and prepare detailed reports on the status of fire protection systems.
  • Respond to fire alarms and assist in fire suppression efforts, as required.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal fire codes and regulations.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement safety plans tailored to the specific needs of the workplace.
  • Provide safety training to employees on safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to ascertain causes and make recommendations for future prevention.
  • Collaborate with management to develop safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
Required Experience

• Preferably 2 years of relevant working experience in fire prevention and protection, or in a related field.

Qualifications
  • Upper secondary education in a related field.
  • Certification as a Fire Inspector 1 or the ability to obtain within first 2 years of employment.
  • Fire Prevention 1 and 2 or the ability to obtain within first 2 years of employment.
  • CP 1, Health and Safety Certification or the ability to obtain within first 2 years of employment.
