ASSOCIATE PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER (TJO), NOB

Overview

The Associate Public Information Officer will track, research, and analyze information, and draft communication products for target audiences. The role involves organizing the production and distribution of information material and responding to inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

• Tracks, researches and analyzes information on assigned topics/issues.
• Drafts and/or compiles information/communications products such as press releases, media packets, reports, brochures, briefings, audiovisual video clips, newsletters, and websites.
• Organizes the clearance, production and distribution of information material.
• Prepares initial drafts of articles or chapters for inclusion in UN newsletters, periodicals, reports, relevant media, and social media.
• Identifies and proposes public information opportunities, activities and approaches.
• Maintains and edits outreach materials on the communication channels of the office.
• Responds to a variety of inquiries and information requests.
• Contributes to the collection and analysis of data and identification of trends or patterns.

Required Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or related area is required. At least one (1) year of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. Experience working with the United Nations or other international organizations is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration or related field. A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
