Overview
The Junior Professional Officer (JPO) will contribute to the formulation, execution, and monitoring of technical cooperation projects in the mining sector, focusing on responsible mining practices and ESG performance. The role involves engaging with stakeholders, developing training programs, and preparing technical documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in formulating, executing, and monitoring technical cooperation projects in the mining sector.
- Engage with private sector stakeholders to promote ESG performance.
- Contribute to the development of training and entrepreneurship programmes for the mining industry.
- Prepare technical documents, policy briefs, and knowledge products.
- Support advocacy, communication, and global forum activities.
- Contribute to programme-specific fundraising efforts.
- Represent the Division in UNIDO's Global Alliance on Responsible and Green Minerals task force.
Required Experience
- A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience is required.
- Suitable working experience can be from the mining or extractive industries, process industry or industries that depend on mining/extractive industry products.
- Experience in implementing or advising ESG standards, responsible industry practices or sustainability frameworks.
- Experience from the mining/extractive industry sector is highly desirable.
- Experience in technical cooperation projects in developing countries, especially in Africa, Asia, or Latin America, is desirable.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in mining engineering, geology, mineral economics, or a closely related field with specialization in responsible mining, sustainability in extractives, or industrial development is required.
