Overview

The intern will support the UN Youth Office in advancing the youth agenda by coordinating Youth2030, the UN Youth Strategy, and supporting the implementation of youth commitments.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on youth policies, programmes, and youth-led solutions at national level
  • Support development of survey tools, data collection, and analysis on working with and for youth
  • Assist in identification of good practices, draft compelling case studies and support global showcase
  • Support collation of resources, development of tool-kits, and maintenance of information and communication systems, leveraging digital and AI tools
  • Prepare briefs, talking points, speeches, and substantive materials on youth topics and key developments
  • Develop social media content and support digital outreach efforts for UN System Coordination, leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies
  • Assist with organizing webinars, workshops, conferences, and high-level events including in-person, online and hybrid formats
  • Coordinate logistics for UN System Coordination activities and provide general administrative support as needed.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience; however, a field of study that is related to the type of internship is required. Experience on youth engagement or youth related policy-programming is desirable. Experience in Sustainable Development, Human Rights, Peace and Security or Humanitarian action is desirable.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). Applicants must be a student in the final year of a first university degree (Bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme. Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and other analytical tools is required.

Work Modality
full time from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. within the United Nations Youth Office, located at the United Nations Headquarters in New York
Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
