Overview
The Senior Protection Officer-Child Protection will lead, oversee, and support Child Protection Officers in delivering high-quality, child-centered case management services. The role ensures the delivery of quality, inclusive, and safe participation and child protection services for children while actively engaging communities and coordinating with relevant sectors and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor the implementation of SHLS and information dissemination activities on Child Protection.
- Develop monthly and quarterly workplans for child protection activities with field teams.
- Support the field-based Protection Officer -CP to ensure effective internal integration and harmonized workplans.
- Contribute to developing, reviewing and creating child protection related IEC and BCC materials.
- Coordinate with relevant focal persons and participate in regular team meetings, coordination meetings and monitoring activities.
- Develop capacity building plans to continuously strengthen the capacities of staff, partners, and community volunteers.
- Deliver tailored training for child protection teams and non-protection sector teams.
- Ensure activities are inclusive, gender-sensitive, child-friendly, and accessible to children with disabilities.
- Collaborate with community members, local authorities, and partner organizations.
- Facilitate the procurement related to child protection at Yangon levels.
- Support case management supervisors’ and emergency protection assistance capacity to support case workers in using CPIMS+, digital forms and workflows.
- Travel to the field locations to provide technical coaching and mentoring to the team.
- Liaise with field and Yangon team to facilitate different challenges faced by the team.
- Provide child protection staff, partners and community volunteers and non-protection sector teams with the tools, resources and guidance necessary to implement activities.
- Work closely with the Monitoring & Evaluation, Technology, Accountability and Learning (METAL) team to develop a context-specific child protection framework and tools.
- Promote safeguarding, PSEA, and Do-No-Harm principles in all activities, ensuring adherence to confidentiality.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of managerial/supervisory work experience in child protection in preventing part and education programming in emergency or humanitarian contexts.
- A strong understanding of Child Protection concepts, Child Protection in Humanitarian Action including minimum standards and guiding principles for working with children.
- Knowledge of child rights, child protection standards, and case management including CPIMS+.
- Experience of community-based protection programming, child protection case management, positive parenting and life skills for children.
- Understanding of local context, sensitivities, and needs pertains to child protection issues.
- Having background in building community participation in emergency response with a flexible approach and the ability to adapt behavior to different situations.
- Flexibility to have frequent travel to field locations.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree on Social Science, social work and Education.
