Overview

The Assistant role supports the WHO Country Office in Papua New Guinea by managing correspondence, preparing travel requests, initiating procurement processes, and organizing meetings.


Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, screen, track and distribute incoming correspondence.
  • Draft replies to general and administrative correspondence.
  • Prepare travel requests and make flight and hotel reservations.
  • Initiate contracts for consultants and Agreements for Performance of Work (APW).
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure timely responses to correspondence and queries.
  • Type, edit, correct and format technical reports and documents.
  • Obtain documents and information from in-house and external sources.
  • Maintain filing systems.
  • Screen and receive visitors and telephone calls.
  • Support the organization of team meetings, workshops, seminars, etc.
  • Replace other support staff as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required or instructed.
Required Experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in secretarial or administrative roles.
  • Relevant experience in WHO or another UN agency is an asset.
  • Experience in Oracle-based or other ERP systems is an asset.
Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school education or equivalent.

Remuneration
Annual net base salary starting at PGK 45,625 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
