Overview

Interns will monitor humanitarian developments, support anticipatory action frameworks, and draft funding application responses within the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).


Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, analyze, and research humanitarian developments.
  • Support anticipatory action frameworks.
  • Review funding applications and draft responses.
  • Contribute to CERF’s work on climate-smart humanitarian action.
  • Prepare guidance and conduct trainings.
  • Prepare or contribute to drafting documents.
  • Collect and organize data on localization, gender, and funding trends.
  • Develop and maintain reference information on humanitarian topics.
  • Coordinate lessons learned and good practices.
  • Assist in CERF partnerships processes.
  • Conduct research and draft advocacy materials.
  • Analyze complex data sets.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • Student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), a Master's or a Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme (with completion date not more than one year before the start-date of the internship).
  • A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS Teams is required.
Other Details
Languages Required
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required for all internship positions.
Languages Preferred
• Fluency in French is desirable. • Knowledge of any other UN official languages is desirable.
Contract Duration
June - December 2026
Work Modality
The preferred modality is in-person. However, remote or hybrid arrangements may be discussed and mutually agreed upon with the manager.
Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
