Overview
The Migration and Development Officer will support the implementation of livelihoods activities at IOM's protection and transit centres in Algiers.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement livelihoods, education, and social cohesion activities with migrants.
- Coordinate livelihoods and education activities for Algerian returnees.
- Conduct assessments including labor market assessments and supply chain mapping.
- Support the formalisation of IOM’s collaboration with the Ministry of Vocational Training.
- Support the establishment of equipped learning labs.
- Conduct mapping of service providers and consultants for vocational training.
- Identify and coordinate with potential private companies for job placements.
- Support selection of project beneficiaries.
- Support beneficiaries in formulation of business plans.
- Coordinate with reintegration team for Individual Reintegration Plan (IRP).
- Coordinate with countries of origin for equivalence of certifications.
- Support diaspora mapping and engagement initiatives.
- Support the Reintegration Unit in planning and implementation of community-based reintegration models.
- Support the facilitation of pathways for labour mobility.
- Monitor progress and impact of activities.
- Organize and conduct satisfaction and feedback surveys.
- Contribute to the review and drafting of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Facilitate job matching initiatives.
- Monitor targets and achievements and report progress.
- Organise and support technical meetings.
- Support coordination with United Nation (UN) agencies.
- Coordinate capacity-building activities for government officials.
- Coordinate with Migration Governance Indicators (MGI) consultant.
- Contribute to the development of South-South Cooperation models.
- Coordinate with caseworkers and Information Management (IM) unit.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Two years of relevant professional experience with a Master’s degree; or
- Four years of relevant professional experience with a University degree.
- Relevant experience in the implementation of social projects/community stabilization though a gender point.
- Demonstrated experience working with migrants in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Experience with international organizations is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in International Relations, International Development, Political or Social Sciences, Migration Studies, Law, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or,
- University degree in the above fields.
