Overview
The Social Adjustment Services Intern will assist caseworkers in providing case management services to refugees and asylees to help them maintain or regain self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with clients to identify and address their individual needs
- Help make referrals to community partners
- Assist client in setting up IOM loan payments
- Assist clients in navigating social service systems
- Input client information into IRC’s database
- Assist clients during walk-in hours
- Communicate client concerns with IRC staff and coordinate service plans with supervisor
- Completing public benefits applications
- Completing rental assistance applications
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Organized with attention to detail
- An interest in international and refugee issues
- Creativity and initiative to follow through on projects
- Strong desire to help people and enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting
- A car/driver’s license is beneficial
