Overview

The Chief Medical Officer serves as the Organization’s leading medical authority, holding responsibility for designing, implementing and monitoring medical and occupational health policies and procedures across the OSCE.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee OSCE-wide medical and occupational health policies and procedures, ensuring consistent standards across all offices and missions.
  • Manage medical risk and ensure organizational duty‑of‑care compliance, including advising senior management on health‑related decisions.
  • Support staff well‑being through medical guidance, assessments, and preventative health measures across the organization.
  • Lead and supervise OSCE medical personnel within the Occupational Safety and Health Unit, providing expert direction and oversight.
  • Make authoritative medical decisions affecting staff health status, organizational risk, and emergency response measures.
  • Collaborate with departments, institutions, field operations, and external medical providers to ensure coordinated health management.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible medical experience, preferably including international occupational health settings
  • Experience in development of health policies or procedures, strategic planning or emergency medical co-ordination
Qualifications
  • A university degree in Medicine (MD) and licence to practice
  • specialization in occupational medicine, emergency medicine or healthcare management is highly desirable

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of other OSCE working languages (e.g. Russian or German) is desirable
