Overview
The Caregiver will be responsible for providing daily care to unaccompanied minors (UMC) in an assigned accommodation facility, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily facility operations to create a supportive and protective environment for UMC.
- Ensure security of UMC at all times, including tracking exits and returns.
- Undertake crisis management protocols in case of emergencies.
- Prevent damage to facility equipment and structures, guiding UMC in their use.
- Oversee general hygiene and living conditions in accommodation rooms.
- Organize UMC's daily routine and structured activities, supporting educational and recreational activities.
- Drive and escort UMC to social and/or medical services.
- Support UMC with night-time preparations and be present during night shifts.
- Assist with the distribution of basic goods and notify supervisor of needs.
- Review food conditions and ensure meals are served on time.
- Assist UMC in accessing laundry services and issue laundry schedules.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Required Experience
- At least two years of certified work experience on care and protection of Unaccompanied Minors.
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
- Previous experience at an IOM Emergency Accommodation Facility is an asset.
- Familiarity with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees preferred.
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment an advantage.
- At least five years driving experience an advantage.
