Overview
Support the installation of Emergency Communications Network (IECN) project in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, contributing to enhanced community and government preparedness for hazard events and disasters.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, configuration, programming, and testing of HF and VHF radio communication systems.
- Support routine inspections, signal testing, and preventive maintenance of radio network performance.
- Assist with installation and mounting of antennas on masts, towers, or designated structures.
- Support the installation and routing of coaxial cables, connectors, grounding systems, and lightning protection equipment.
- Assist with the installation of solar photovoltaic panels, charge controllers, and battery systems.
- Support safe wiring and electrical connections between solar panels, controllers, batteries, and radio equipment.
- Support first-level troubleshooting of radio communication equipment and solar power systems.
- Assist in repairing or replacing faulty components and identifying system faults or signal disruptions.
- Ensure all activities comply with IOM safety standards, electrical safety procedures, and grounding protocols.
- Follow safety procedures during field installations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain records of equipment installations, maintenance activities, and technical interventions.
- Assist in maintaining updated inventories of communications equipment, solar components, and spare parts.
- Provide technical support during field deployments and communications infrastructure setup.
- Coordinate with logistics and procurement teams to ensure availability of equipment, materials, and spare parts.
Required Experience
School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or, Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant experience in Electrical, Electronics, Telecomunications, ICT, or a related field is a strong advantage.
