Overview
The role involves coordinating and managing quantitative household surveys, specifically the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS), at the provincial level in Pakistan. The purpose is to ensure timely, high-quality implementation of MICS to generate data for monitoring child-related SDGs and informing evidence-based planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Finalize Survey Plan and Budget, including timetable.
- Prepare Sample design, MICS Questionnaire, Manuals and CAPI application.
- Develop Lessons learned and challenges and its mitigation plan.
- Plan and perform Listing and mapping per MICS guidelines.
- Adapt Training schedules and identify resource persons for training.
- Develop Field plan for each team.
- Plan and perform Fieldwork and fieldwork monitoring visits.
- Ensure hardware availability for CAPI application and establish data transfer and backup systems.
- Regularly update Timelines for tracking MICS processes.
- Produce Field check tables and provide feedback to team supervisors.
- Arrange monthly de-briefing sessions for stakeholders.
- Ensure Sampling Weights are included in datasets and reviewed.
- Customize MICS tabulation plan and standard syntax for SPSS dataset and tables.
- Generate and review Findings tables.
- Produce MICS survey archive with all final survey documents and materials.
- Submit Monthly Progress Report of activities.
Required Experience
- Proven minimum of 5 years’ experience in the coordination and/or management of quantitative household surveys (prior MICS or Demographic and Health Survey (DHS)).
- Experience with CAPI data collection.
- Training experience and ability to organize and facilitate training and presentations.
- Experience in data analysis and survey report writing.
- Familiarity and previous experience of working in Pakistan.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and to establish harmonious and effective relationships both within and outside the organization, more specifically with Statistical Offices.
- Demonstrated leadership, managerial and supervisory ability.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively in-country and to attend regional workshops.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts (desirable).
- Experience of working with UN agencies is an asset.
Qualifications
- Advance University degree (Master's or above) in Demography, Statistics, Social Sciences, Epidemiology, international development, or any other related technical field is required.
- A first University Degree (Bachelor's) in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience, may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
