Overview
Provide technical expertise in the evaluation, specification, installation, and oversight of multi-hazard Early Warning System (EWS) equipment to ensure technical soundness, operational feasibility, and compliance with international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support in the evaluation of bids for multi-hazard EWS equipment.
- Assist in the assessment of proposals for WMO Class 1 Compatible station types.
- Support the evaluation of technical specifications for Synoptic, Climatological, Agricultural, and Rain Gauge Stations.
- Assist in evaluating site preparation and installation requirements.
- Support the assessment of reports verifying targeted sites, site preparation, and equipment delivery/installation.
- Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning of EWS equipment.
- Assist in the preparation of technical evaluation matrices and formal recommendations.
- Contribute to the development of assessment reports verifying targeted sites, site preparation, and equipment delivery/installation.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the UNOPS Project Manager on the progress of technical evaluation and installation activities.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical evaluation, installation, and oversight of meteorological or environmental monitoring equipment.
- Experience with Early Warning Systems (EWS) and disaster preparedness.
- Familiarity with UN or UNOPS procurement processes and principles.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Meteorology, Hydrology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
