Overview
The Social Media Officer advocates for a digital-first communications culture and helps to drive reach, engagement and growth in @NATO social media channels. The incumbent keeps pace with digital trends and ensures communication helps to deliver the Alliance’s strategic communication objectives and political priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage select @NATO social media channels and provide back-up and support to colleagues.
- Conceive, post and monitor all daily content on select @NATO flagship social media channels and autonomously undertake community management.
- Identify and implement strategic use of paid advertising in support of priorities.
- Shape the ideas, planning, tactics and strategy on these channels for key activities such as ministerials and summits, campaigns and priority communication efforts.
- Undertake project lead and point of contact roles for specific communication activities.
- Undertake assessment, community management and social listening for select @NATO social media channels.
- Continuously monitor, analyse and maintain understanding of the changing social media landscape.
- Pro-actively test, iterate and advise on the use of new tactics and tools.
- Provide consultancy and technical expertise, including delivering presentations, training and seminars.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of experience and expertise in managing multiple social media channels, platforms (e.g. Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Tik Tok), monitoring and assessment tools.
- Proven ability to communicate creatively, signal relevance and engage varied audiences.
- Expertise in navigating an evolving digital landscape and a strong understanding of the changing technical elements of social media platforms and how to harness each of them.
Qualifications
• Possess a university degree in communications, international affairs or a related discipline.
