Overview
The Project Associate will support the implementation and management of water and sanitation activities, providing technical support for WASH interventions at border entry and transit points.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities for improving WASH facilities and services at Points of Entry, including reception and transit centers in border areas.
- Assist in monitoring work of implementing partners and contractors/service providers.
- Participate in technical assessments and analysis of the data collected for the implementation of WASH activities.
- Assist in planning the project intervention and prepare cost estimates for the activities.
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, and suggest remedial actions.
- Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation, and other forms of documentation.
- Verify constructions and activities are completed to a satisfactory standard before final payment is authorized.
- Ensure regular communication with beneficiary communities to explain the objectives, activities, and expected outcomes of WASH projects.
- Collaborate with local leaders and community organizations to ensure acceptance and buy-in for WASH activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Three years of relevant professional experience with a university degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology or a related field.
- Five years of relevant experience with a school diploma in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology or a related field.
- Experience in the implementation of WASH activities to provide life-saving assistance to affected populations in Haiti.
- Experience in hygiene promotion.
- Experience in the design and implementation of WASH infrastructure, including procurement and contract management.
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- Experience in water network and borehole.
Qualifications
- University degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
- School diploma in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology or a related field.
