Overview
The Regional Policy and Advocacy Advisor will lead efforts to highlight the developmental needs of children aged 3-12 in PlayMatters operating settings, raise the profile of IRC and partners' work, and influence prioritization and funding for education integrating play.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a Learning through Play Policy and Advocacy strategy.
- Liaise with advocacy focal points across IRC units and external stakeholders.
- Conduct stakeholder analyses and power mapping.
- Develop and oversee advocacy and communications tactics.
- Collaborate with Communications to develop print and digital products.
- Initiate presentations and maintain relationships through regular updates and meetings.
- Track and update requests for IRC participation in advocacy-related meetings and events.
- Support the translation of interventions into multi-media solutions for mass media dissemination.
- Facilitate the adaptation and uptake of PlayMatters digitalized multi-media content within government systems.
- Oversee the identification of opportunities to develop and adopt multi-media content for education platforms.
- Develop a Learning through Play Advocacy workplan and track progress.
- Develop, support, and/or lead advocacy capacity building workshops and meetings.
- Assist in the development and finalization of PlayMatters talking points and presentations.
- Represent PlayMatters within appropriate interagency groups.
Required Experience
• 5+ years of experience working in policy and/or advocacy related to children, education, health, or other relevant fields.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree required; post-graduate degree preferred in a discipline relevant to Global Education in humanitarian settings (such as education, psychology, etc.).
