Overview

The Case Worker Volunteer operates as part of the Child Protection team to ensure a comprehensive response for migrant children, managing individual cases, providing support and advocacy, and ensuring access to essential services.


Key Responsibilities
  • Identify vulnerable and at-risk migrant children, conduct initial assessments, and develop urgent response plans.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of the child’s situation, including Best Interest Assessments (BIA).
  • Develop and implement individual response plans, ensuring quality care and continuous follow-up.
  • Provide case management services, recommend financial support, and refer cases requiring specialized services.
  • Coordinate with local partners, civil society organizations, government authorities, and service providers.
  • Participate in the common case management system.
  • Provide psychological first aid and refer cases requiring specialized support.
  • Empower children to express their opinions and participate in decision-making.
  • Monitor and review cases.
  • Close cases according to established closure standards.
  • Ensure high-quality documentation and maintain confidentiality.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and interim statistical and narrative reports.
  • Contribute to community awareness activities and support outreach campaigns.
  • Conduct mobile fieldwork and visits to camps, centers, or migrant accommodation sites.
  • Perform any other required tasks.
Required Experience

Minimum of two years of experience in child protection, preferably with migrant or refugee children. At least one year of experience working with youth (ages 13–18). Understanding of the legal framework for refugees and asylum seekers in Yemen. Familiarity with Ethiopian and Somali community customs and behaviors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field.
