Overview
The role involves preparing and monitoring the DG’s budget, ensuring the regularity and legality of budgetary and financial operations, and contributing to financial activities within the Directorate-General.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and monitor the DG’s budget.
- Facilitate and participate in hearings related to the budgetary exercise.
- Monitor budget implementation and maintain contact with policy units.
- Provide necessary reporting to the hierarchy.
- Contribute to the development of performance indicators.
- Ensure appropriate control mechanisms and governance structures are implemented.
- Maintain and develop budget monitoring tools, management reports, dashboards, and follow-up tables.
- Be consulted on files and initiatives with budgetary implications.
- Participate in financial initiation activities.
- Work with SUMMA (The Commission’s Accounting Tool).
- Contribute to other operational tasks of the unit.
- Contribute to the development and management of a cost accounting system.
Required Experience
- At least three years of relevant professional experience.
- Prior experience with budget procedures and/or budget implementation within the EU Institutions is ideal.
- Previous experience as a financial agent, in contract management, procurement, grants, or accounting would constitute strong assets.
Qualifications
Have a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma.
