Overview
The Programme Specialist leads the programme pillar on Climate Change, WASH and Emergency Preparedness, driving strategic development, coordination and implementation of climate resilience and risk-informed programming. The role embeds climate-responsive approaches across social services and strengthens national and subnational systems to anticipate, prepare for and respond to shocks.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure programmes are strengthened by knowledge management through data collection and analysis, complete and accurate reporting, and participation in corporate-level databases.
- Contribute to situation analysis for programme development and administer a monitoring system, providing analysis of socio-political-economic trends.
- Assist in establishing programme work plans, monitor progress and compliance, and help manage allocation and disbursement of programme funds.
- Undertake field visits to monitor and assess programme implementation and participate in major programme evaluation exercises.
- Assure the quality of child rights-based programmes through effective planning, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Provide government authorities with technical support and guidance for capacity building and programme sustainability.
- Conduct policy analysis from a children's and women's rights perspective and advocate at community and family levels.
- Develop partnerships and collaboration with internal and external counterparts to improve data collection and dissemination.
- Provide strong leadership and strategic direction to the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Required Experience
- A minimum of Five years of relevant professional work experience is required in one or more of the following areas: the Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH) and Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction (CEED), social policy, planning and management or finances.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
- Background/familiarity with emergency is considered as an asset.
- Relevant experience in an UN system agency or organization is considered an asset.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Environmental, Chemical or Civil Engineering, Architect, Social or Economical Sciences, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or another relevant technical field.
