Overview
The Mental Health and Psychological Support (MHPSS) Specialist is responsible for supporting the quality, gender-sensitive design, delivery, and advocacy across education programming, leading and managing MHPSS activities in education projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice and guidance to education program teams on MHPSS plans and components.
- Coordinate with the EiE Cluster and represent the education programme in the MHPSS Technical Working Group.
- Coordinate MHPSS capacity building plans for Village Education Committees and teachers.
- Develop key guidance and tools for MHPSS services and information dissemination.
- Provide technical support for data collection for reports.
- Provide inputs to concept notes and proposals on MHPSS activities.
- Set up a MEAL system to monitor and evaluate MHPSS activities.
- Support strategic planning and delivery of MHPSS activities.
- Guide the development of contextualized deliverables for MHPSS works.
- Support in guiding the needs of areas for MHPSS projects, activities, and deliverables.
- Collaborate with the advocacy team on developing impact stories and support campaign and advocacy initiatives.
- Provide MHPSS-related support to other departments.
- Support the identification, assessment, selection, and development of technical capacity of implementing and strategic partners.
- Provide capacity development for CSO partners.
- Support program teams and partners to adhere to SCI MHPSS guidelines, Gender Equality and Inclusion Principles.
- Represent Save the Children at national MHPSS Working Group and technical working group meetings.
- Support technical capacity of Save the Children staff.
- Coach and mentor staff and partners in MHPSS.
- Develop packages of tools, intervention approaches and capacity building plans for MHPSS.
Required Experience
- Minimum five years of work experience in MHPSS
- Experience in conducting research, surveys and delivering situational and evidence-based reports
- Knowledge of and experience with MHPSS working group is an advantage
- Experience in ensuring innovative plans/approaches are gender sensitive and transformative
- Previous working experience of MHPSS data analysis and management
- Good understanding of the local context and culture
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Applied Psychology, Child Psychology or in relevant field.
- Professional qualifications and field experiences are desirable.
