Overview
Internship opportunity assisting the Emergency Unit with various Site Management & Coordination and Emergency related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Support in information management and internal communication of DRC's emergency responses, including drafting and filing documents, and keeping intranet pages updated.
- Support exchange and learning by planning and facilitating global SMC Community of Practice events, regular webinar series, and promoting ongoing engagement. Maintain the SMC intranet pages and resource hub.
- Assist in data collection and the preparation of information to support SMC thematic outputs, including conducting desk reviews or preparing case studies on specific topics, and drafting summary reports, tools and guidance.
- Support in the desk analysis of fragile humanitarian contexts, including media monitoring. Track triggers for the launch of emergency responses and undertake trend analysis on responses.
- Assist in planning, facilitating, and documenting After-Action Reviews of DRC emergency responses.
- Support with administrative tasks to enable the effective coordination of DRC’s roving emergency team to countries experiencing emergencies (EMPACT) and support the planning and implementation of training events on Emergency Response for DRC country office staff.
Required Experience
- Interest in conflict and displacement, fragile states, and humanitarian emergencies.
- Interest in internal administration and systems, detail-oriented and organized approach.
Qualifications
- Relevant educational background for example in international law, social work, public administration, international relations, development, political science or other social sciences relevant to DRC’s work.
- It is a requirement that you are enrolled in a university during the whole duration of the internship period in order to be considered for the internship.
