Overview
The United Nations Field Staff Union (UNFSU) seeks an intern to support its advocacy, communications, and membership initiatives. This internship provides exposure to staff union work within the UN system and aims to strengthen research, communications, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis on UN policies impacting field staff.
- Assist in drafting position papers, briefing notes, and advocacy materials.
- Monitor developments on staff security, conditions of service, mobility, and health insurance.
- Plan, create, and publish content across websites, newsletters, and social media.
- Develop multimedia assets such as infographics and short videos.
- Manage website and social media updates.
- Monitor digital engagement and prepare analytical summaries.
- Use ethical AI tools for content ideation and optimization.
- Support campaigns, ensuring brand consistency and accessibility.
- Liaise with UN missions, departments, and staff representatives.
- Assist in organizing consultations, meetings, and workshops.
- Provide support for UNFSU participation in global forums.
- Prepare meeting notes, background documents, and follow-up actions.
- Support the design and administration of surveys.
- Assist in preparing and delivering webinars and training sessions.
- Draft correspondence and maintain electronic records.
- Assist with the preparation of annual reports.
- Support special research projects on international labor standards.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- OR enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Field of studies must be closely related to communications or information management.
- Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
