Overview
Provide ongoing technical support and engineering expertise on-demand for UNICEF Malawi's Country Programme in infrastructure on an as-and-when-required basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide design support, technical review, validation, and engineering oversight for institutional facilities.
- Support technical evaluation of proposed designs and feasibility studies.
- Ensure infrastructure meets national guidelines, international best practices, and UNICEF's standards.
- Provide Engineering contractor technical monitoring reports on remote rural construction projects.
- Provide advisory services and capacity-building to stakeholders related to technical aspects of infrastructure.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 10 years professional experience designing, reviewing, or validating construction of institutional facilities in developing contexts required.
- Demonstrated experience in providing technical advice, quality assurance, and validation of infrastructure designs, preferably within Malawi or similar Sub-Saharan African contexts required.
- Proven experience providing capacity-building, mentoring, or technical advisory services for government partners, NGOs, or development organizations desirable.
- Experience working on infrastructure structural stability assessments and refurbishment projects is desirable.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (master’s level or higher) in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- Exceptionally a bachelors degree may be accepted if there is evidence of extensive highly specific relevant experience.
- Professional engineering certification or accreditation is desirable.
