Overview
The Weapon Contamination (WeC) Field Officer will be responsible for the implementation, support, and monitoring of weapon contamination activities to ensure ICRC staff safety and the continuation of ICRC operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing weapon contamination activities
- Contribute to assessing, analyzing, and communicating the security, socio-economic, cultural, and political environment as relevant to the ICRC, including awareness raising
- Contribute to building the capacity of the national authorities and the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS)
- Contribute written reporting on WeC activities
- Develop and maintain contacts with the authorities at local level
- Report events and changes that could have an impact on the ICRC's activities
- Replace the line management and represent the ICRC WeC programme in internal and external meeting
- Conducts Chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats (CBRN) training and activities for the sub delegation and beneficiaries
- Translate/interpret as required
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of overall working experience
- Knowledge of Weapon Contamination (WeC)/mine action or a similar field
- Good knowledge of the geographic area assigned
- Previous experience with the ICRC or other humanitarian agency an asset
- Knowledge of the ICRC/humanitarian work an asset
Qualifications
- Relevant degree from a university or technical college
- Academically or professionally proficient in a technical WeC-related subject or pedagogics or project management
