Overview

Provide leadership and guidance to the Radionuclide Unit, overseeing its work programme, development, and implementation of processes to ensure effective operation of the IMS network.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Radionuclide Unit.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor and evaluate staff, and coordinate work activities.
  • Plan, implement and monitor the Unit’s work programme.
  • Lead and supervise the timely development and implementation of processes, procedures, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Provide scientific, engineering and technical advice on radionuclide monitoring.
  • Manage radionuclide projects.
  • Oversee the management of multiple concurrent, complex radionuclide projects globally.
  • Supervise, coordinate and conduct site surveys, site preparation, installation, status assessments, certification, revalidation and post-certification support of radionuclide stations and laboratories.
  • Identify required actions, and supervise and coordinate solutions to ensure the proper functioning of radionuclide facilities.
  • Supervise, coordinate and conduct activities supporting radionuclide monitoring station operations.
  • Liaise with government officials, designated institutions and contractors.
  • Coordinate, supervise and participate in scientific, engineering and technical meetings.
  • Prepare and present materials for Commission meetings, IMS training programmes, and technical workshops and conferences.
  • Collaborate on advanced studies on next-generation radionuclide stations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
  • At least seven (7) years of progressive increase in responsibility within relevant working experience on radionuclide monitoring or a related field.
  • Preferably part of which should have been at an international level.
  • Experience in radionuclide monitoring technology development is desirable.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and team management experience is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management is essential.
  • Sound level of judgement, responsibility and initiative is essential.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in multicultural environment is essential.
  • Proven ability to build relevant strategic partnerships and alliances with key stakeholders and partners is essential.
  • Ability to design and manage complex, result-based technical assistance programmes/projects, preferably in the radionuclide field, is essential.
Qualifications

Advanced university degree in nuclear physics, engineering or a related field.

Languages Required
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of other official CTBTO languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is desirable.
