Overview

The National Project Coordinator will be responsible for administering and managing the implementation of all in-country activities of the RISSC Phase II project in Malaysia, aiming to support a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable rubber supply chain.


Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and manage implementation of all in-country activities of the RISSC Phase II project in Malaysia.
  • Plan, supervise and monitor activities required to achieve project objectives and outputs.
  • Ensure alignment with ILO’s wider programme of work in Malaysia.
  • Ensure effective management, including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
  • Provide timely, accurate and pertinent information on programme and budget matters.
  • Monitor and verify the accuracy of data.
  • Coordinate with the Project's Advisory Committee in Malaysia.
  • Assist in the preparation of meetings, selection of interventions, and engagement with project partners and implementing agencies.
  • Support technical project work at the country level.
  • Review and analyse development plans and policies in Malaysia, legislation, socio-economic data, national development strategies, reports and other information relevant to project implementation.
  • Prepare briefs and situational updates.
  • Participate in the organization and facilitation of conferences, workshops, seminars, training sessions, consultative meetings, webinars and other relevant activities.
  • Prepare briefs, periodical reports and statistical data.
  • Contribute to the production of training and advocacy material in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Translate into local language(s) and/or edit translation of technical material, news releases, official correspondence, statements, speeches and other documents.
  • Prepare periodic and ad-hoc progress notes on the status of Project implementation.
  • Coordinate with concerned tripartite and other partners in Malaysia and relevant UN agencies.
  • Identify and implement synergies and efficiencies with Malaysia's Decent Work Country Programme and related in-country and regional projects and programmes.
Required Experience
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience at the national level, preferably in project management and topics related to international labour standards, responsible business conduct, human rights due diligence, sustainable enterprises, global supply chains, social dialogue, labour administration or economic, social and environmental transitions.
  • Experience working with government, workers' and employers' organizations, industry associations, civil society, UN agencies and other stakeholders will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Malaysia's rubber sector or export-oriented manufacturing/agro-industrial supply chains would be an asset.
  • Proven ability to promote gender equality through project work is also highly desirable.
Qualifications
  • University degree in economics, management, social science, labour studies, development studies, business, law or related fields with demonstrated expertise or equivalent experience.
  • Training in results-based planning, design, data collection, monitoring and evaluation methodologies and project cycle management is an advantage.

Languages Required
• Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia is required (reading, writing and listening).
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of other languages used by workers or stakeholders in the Malaysian rubber sector would be an advantage.
Contract Duration
