Overview

The Programme Coordinator (Protection) will be responsible for the management, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of IOM Country Office’s protection, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), and migrant protection and resettlement projects and activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of IOM South Sudan’s protection strategy and lead the implementation of IOM protection activities.
  • Contribute to resource mobilization efforts for protection, and to project development, monitoring and reporting.
  • Strengthen IOM South Sudan’s capacity to deliver protection support and activities.
  • Monitor, supervise, train, coach and oversee the work of the Protection Unit’s staff.
  • Manage core protection-related projects, activities and budgets.
  • Lead IOM South Sudan’s protection mainstreaming efforts across the mission.
  • Analyze context and dynamics and maintain a detailed understanding of the evolving protection landscape.
  • Champion localization, including assessing opportunities and capacity for cooperation with national authorities and partners.
  • Represent IOM in the Protection Cluster and all relevant coordination forums.
  • Develop key messages and advocacy briefs based on protection monitoring findings.
  • Mentor and support staff in their professional development.
  • Coordinate with and provide technical expertise and lessons learned to IOM’s Protection Regional Thematic Specialist and Headquarters.
  • Undertake duty travel, as required.
Required Experience
  • Master’s degree with five years of relevant professional experience; or University degree with seven years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in the field of migration, internally displaced person (IDP), and protection.
  • Proven experience and expertise directly implementing and coordinating specialized protection programming in General protection, Prevention and Response to GBV, and/or Counter-trafficking through case management, individual protection assistance, community-based protection.
  • Demonstrated experience working with other sectors and partners in implementing, measuring and providing training on protection mainstreaming.
  • Experience and expertise in Protection information management, more specifically in protection analysis, protection monitoring or results-based protection are an asset.
  • Experience with cash-based intervention and cash for protection.
  • Working experience in South Sudan or the region is an asset.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, Migration Studies, International Relations, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • University degree in the above fields.

• Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
• Working Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
