Overview

Support the integration of HIV prevention and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, focusing on key and vulnerable populations. The role involves program implementation, monitoring, reporting, resource mobilization, and partner coordination.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support planning, monitoring, and reporting of HIV/AIDS priorities and integration within SRH services.
  • Propose and support implementation of sustainability and scale-up strategies for CSE and adolescent-friendly health services.
  • Provide technical assistance to the National HIV program on condom programming.
  • Coordinate within the UN Joint Technical Team for HIV/AIDS.
  • Provide technical assistance to stakeholders in generating evidence and communicating results.
  • Support organization of workshops, meetings, and events.
  • Support advocacy and resource mobilization for HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.
  • Engage in government-led discussions and preparation of resource mobilization proposals.
  • Support building sustainable financing mechanisms for HIV/AIDS-inclusive services.
  • Strengthen partnerships for HIV/AIDS within SRHR services.
  • Support dialogues to strengthen partnerships and coordination for HIV/AIDS prevention and response.
  • Assess implications of new policy developments and strategies on program execution.
  • Participate in advocacy and resource mobilization efforts of the UNFPA Regional Office.
  • Support advocacy and coordination with the Government and civil society organizations in HIV/AIDS programming.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to develop cost-effective interventions for sexual well-being and health.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) programming, including project development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation or related areas is required.
  • Strong understanding of SRHR and HIV/AIDS issues in the Eastern and Southern African Region.
  • Proven experience in providing technical assistance to government and civil society partners, including major past regional and global programmes (President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund), etc.)
  • Experience in program/project management, including expertise in large multi-sector projects, designing and appraising proposals, and actively liaising with relevant and potential project partners.
  • Demonstrated analytical writing skills, such as donor reports, fundraising proposals, and communication materials.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and executing programs, projects, or initiatives in alignment with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) organizational goals.
  • Experience working with UNFPA or other United Nations (UN) agencies working in HIV/AIDS is a strong asset.
  • Field experience is an asset.
  • Prior experience in the UN system is an asset.
Qualifications

An advanced degree (minimum master’s degree or equivalent) in Public Health, gender, policies, social work, international development, and other relevant social science areas is required.
