Overview

The Project Analyst will manage the Chemicals and Waste Project, facilitating daily implementation, advancing programmatic goals, and exploring strategic public-private partnerships to accelerate the reduction of POPs, mercury, and plastic waste.


Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate daily implementation of projects and advance programmatic goals.
  • Explore strategic public-private partnerships.
  • Promote strategic engagements through partnership building and coordination.
  • Undertake resource mobilization.
  • Manage full project formulation, implementation, and management.
  • Provide technical support to UNDP China’s programme pillars and thematic portfolios.
  • Ensure effective implementation of project activities with relevant Government partners, the private sector, foundations, academia, media and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the formulation of UNDP China’s chemical and waste management programme strategies.
  • Provide thorough analysis of the chemical and waste in the country.
  • Analyze and synthesize national and sub-national strategies and policies in chemical and waste project management.
  • Provide technical inputs to support the oversight and monitoring of the implementation progress of the UNSDCF/ CPD.
  • Ensure digital technology solutions in programme strategies and implementation are managed.
  • Support the establishment and management of strategic partnerships.
  • Provide support in identifying Chemical and waste management programme areas of cooperation with UN agencies.
  • Analyze and research information on potential donors.
  • Contribute to the development of the Chemical and Waste Management development portfolio pipeline projects.
  • Lead the effective management of UNDP China’s chemical and waste management project implementation.
  • Oversee end to end project implementation.
  • Ensure financial, procurement and administrative management for the project management.
  • Ensure timely, high quality reporting, monitoring, and audits.
  • Support effective project delivery through coordination of meetings, stakeholder consultations, field missions, documentation, procurement, and financial processes.
  • Strengthen monitoring, evaluation, learning, and data use across the programme cycle.
  • Contribute to project advocacy, visibility, and communications.
  • Support provision of top-quality advisory services to key development partners.
  • Facilitate knowledge building and management.
  • Support the development of Chemical and Waste Management policies and innovative interventions.
  • Identify and compile best practices and lessons learned.
  • Support establishment and strengthening of national and international advocacy networks.
  • Provide inputs in development of Chemical and waste management knowledge products.
  • Facilitate knowledge and capacity building, knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure appropriate training, project workshops and other relevant activities are organized and implemented.
  • Ensure project reports capture results, lessons learned and good practices.
  • Participate in and ensure sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
  • Support establishment of knowledge platforms for the project.
  • Promote advocacy for UNDP’s work and opportunities for collaboration.
Required Experience
  • Applicants with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years in project management is required, especially within international cooperation such as bilateral or GEF project management.
  • At least two years of proven experience in GEF project management.
  • Working experiences in management of environment convention, especially chemicals, hazardous waste, climate change, MP etc.
  • Demonstrated experiences in collaborating with governmental and non-governmental institutions, civil society organizations, research institutes, and the private sector.
Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Environment Science, Finance, Statistics, Chemistry, Biology etc is required.
  • Or A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with an additional 2 years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
