Overview

This internship offers postgraduate students hands-on exposure to operational and analytical work in the World Bank's transport sector in China, focusing on supporting low carbon, inclusive, and efficient transport systems.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support research, data collection, and analytical work on China’s transport sector.
  • Contribute to the preparation of briefing notes, presentation materials, technical summaries, literature reviews, and knowledge products.
  • Support the organization and documentation of expert interviews, workshops, missions, and knowledge exchange events.
  • Conduct targeted analysis of Chinese and international policy, institutional, financing, and implementation practices.
  • Provide other research, coordination, and operational support as needed.
Required Experience

Up to six years of relevant academic, research, internship, or professional experience related to transport, urban development, infrastructure, climate change, logistics, public policy, financing.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a postgraduate master’s or PhD program in transport planning, civil engineering, urban planning, public policy, economics, logistics, data science, environmental studies, development studies, energy related to green fuel for transport, or a closely related field.

Languages Required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese are required, including the ability to review Chinese-language materials and communicate effectively with counterparts and team members.
