Overview
The World Bank Group (WBG) Oman Country Office seeks a Storytelling & Communications Intern to support communications, outreach, and storytelling activities. The intern will produce high-quality communications content, including digital stories, short videos, and social media content.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop compelling stories highlighting the impact of WBG-supported initiatives in Oman.
- Draft articles, blogs, feature stories, and human-interest pieces.
- Translate technical development content into engaging narratives.
- Support development of communication products for missions, events, and senior-level engagements.
- Assist in planning, filming, and editing short videos.
- Produce short-form digital content suitable for social media platforms.
- Create multimedia content incorporating photography, graphics, captions, and interviews.
- Maintain and organize video, photo, and digital asset libraries.
- Develop draft content for LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, and other digital platforms.
- Support social media campaigns aligned with key WBG priorities and events.
- Monitor digital engagement metrics and identify opportunities to improve reach and effectiveness.
- Research innovative storytelling formats and digital communications trends.
- Support communications planning and execution for workshops, conferences, high-level visits, and stakeholder events.
- Prepare event summaries, talking points, presentations, and communication materials.
- Capture photos and video content during events for institutional communications use.
- Benchmark development communications and storytelling best practices.
- Identify opportunities to amplify WBG visibility and impact through strategic communications.
- Support preparation of presentations, communication notes, and visual content for management.
- Provide communications support to the Country Office as required.
- Undertake other related assignments consistent with the objectives of the internship.
Required Experience
- Experience creating content for digital and social media platforms.
- Familiarity with video editing software and multimedia production tools.
- Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a multicultural team environment.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, postgraduate degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, Public Relations, International Development, Graphic Design, Film Production, or a related field.
