Overview
The Environment Intern will support the World Bank Group (WBG) Oman Country Management Unit's public-facing knowledge and engagement work on environmental topics. The role involves contributing to research, written outputs, stakeholder engagement, and communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct literature reviews and background research on environmental policy, biodiversity, natural resource management, land use, coastal ecosystems, and green economy topics relevant to Oman and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
- Track and document Oman's progress against national environmental commitments.
- Compile and analyze environmental indicators, data sets, and country-level statistics.
- Benchmark environmental policies and good practices from comparable arid and Gulf contexts.
- Support the preparation of public-facing outputs including policy briefs, briefing notes, blog posts, infographics, presentations, and social media content.
- Translate technical environmental content into accessible and engaging narratives.
- Assist in the preparation of sections of country environmental assessments, country partnership frameworks, or other analytical and operational documents.
- Support the organization and documentation of environment-related workshops, knowledge-sharing events, consultations, and stakeholder dialogues.
- Prepare event summaries, talking points, presentations, and background materials for meetings.
- Provide operational support to the CMU's environment-related activities.
- Undertake other related assignments consistent with the objectives of the internship.
Required Experience
Experience with data analysis or environmental indicators is an asset.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in postgraduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Sustainability, Environmental Economics, or a related field.
