Overview
Provide expert advice and short-term capacity to Resident Coordinators and other UN senior clients in conflict-affected settings, focusing on UN-IFI engagement for prevention, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support UN Resident Coordinators in strengthening collaboration with IFIs to advance nationally led prevention, including national prevention strategies, recovery, and transition priorities.
- Advise on engagement with World Bank IDA21 mechanisms, including Prevention and Resilience Allocation (PRA) and Turn Around Allocation (TAA) processes.
- Promote coordinated engagement between governments, UN entities, IFIs, and development partners around strategic prevention and peacebuilding efforts.
- Contribute to strategic analysis, consultations, and coordination arrangements linked to national transition and prevention frameworks.
- Identify opportunities for IFI financing and Peacebuilding Fund interventions to complement each other and enhance collective impact.
- Develop briefing materials, analytical papers, and lessons learned to inform UN-IFI policy discussions and operational approaches.
- Ensure programming and advisory support incorporate human rights principles, gender equality, youth participation, and inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized populations.
- Advise on the application of innovative finance and solutions instruments in the context of prevention and peacebuilding.
- Advise UN leadership and Resident Coordinators on approaches to strengthen collaboration with IFIs through integrated assessments, coordinated planning, and aligned programming frameworks.
- Support the preparation and implementation of joint analytical and planning exercises, including Recovery and Peacebuilding Assessments (RPBAs).
Required Experience
- Ten (10) years of relevant experience with an Advanced University degree (Masters’ degree or equivalent) preferably in Political Science, International Development, International Relations, International Law, Development Economics or any other relevant field.
- OR
- Twelve (12) years of relevant experience with a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree) preferably in Political Science, International Development, International Relations, International Law, Development Economics or any other relevant field.
- Required Relevant experience is defined as professional experience in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and/or international development.
