Overview

The Child Protection Officer will be responsible for the daily follow-up of Child Protection (CP) activities, providing support to implementing partners, and leading direct implementation in the field. The role aims to establish and expand psychosocial programming, build capacity of caregivers, and coordinate community initiatives addressing CP issues.


Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with the line manager to identify project priorities and develop/lead implementation of monthly and weekly work plans.
  • Ensure team members understand weekly priorities and provide guidance and support.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain, Finance, and HR for support to field activities.
  • Lead needs assessment interviews under supervision.
  • Monitor progress and resolve implementation issues.
  • Lead field activities related to community engagement, including discussions and workshops.
  • Ensure smooth execution of activities and communicate progress, challenges, and needs.
  • Ensure SCI accountability systems are followed by field staff.
  • Conduct field visits to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Produce weekly and monthly quantitative and qualitative reports.
  • Ensure programme interventions are informed by and integrated with other core sectors.
  • Make referrals to needed services and vice versa.
  • Provide technical and organizational training and coaching to direct reports.
  • Identify staffing needs and lead recruitment of direct reports.
  • Identify staff capacity building needs.
  • Ensure direct reports have clear performance and development objectives.
  • Provide daily technical and operational support to partners’ staff.
  • Monitor partners’ activities implementation and ensure high quality standards.
  • Verify partners’ reports against SC internal reporting mechanisms.
  • Support in documenting efforts and work done with partners to build their capacity.
  • Assess partners’ knowledge and needs on CP level.
  • Document best practices and case studies.
  • Conduct training for partners’ staff.
  • Ensure activities are developed in coordination with local authorities and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, partners, and local authorities.
  • Represent SCI in CP working group and taskforce meetings.
Required Experience

At least 3 years’ experience in the Child Protection field with at least 2 years in a similar officer-level role. At least one year of experience working with international NGOs. Experience in PsychoSocial Support programming, community mobilisation and coordination with local authorities in North Lebanon and Akkar. Ability to write weekly and monthly reports. Strong knowledge of the humanitarian context on North Lebanon and Akkar. Experience in team leading and handling programmes action plans.

Qualifications

Master degree in Social Work, psychology or other related studies. Or Bachelor degree with at least 3 years of professional experience in the field of Child Protection.
