Overview
The Senior Officer, Planned Giving, will work with donors and prospects in an assigned geography across the Eastern US to ensure an increased number of legacy gift commitments and a growing and engaged legacy society. Accountable for securing and sustaining planned gifts, they will work directly with prospects and donors and Philanthropy colleagues to ensure a healthy financial future for our humanitarian work.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a large portfolio of planned gift prospects and donors.
- Provide timely follow-up to new marketing leads to educate prospects, creating new planned gifts for the IRC.
- Craft and implement meaningful engagement opportunities for planned giving donors and prospects.
- Plan and execute regional donor trips.
- Focus on high quality interactions during in person visits, events, , and digital and mail communications.
- Promote engagement with the IRC legacy society (Changemakers).
- Collaborate with Major Gifts and Principal Gifts colleagues to develop strategy and solicitation for planned gifts.
- Collaborate across ER teams and IRC regional office leadership to create greater understanding of planned giving’s role and process.
- Successfully meet individual goals for high quality meetings, prospect conversions, lead identification, and outright giving.
- Continually review donor file data (Salesforce) to identify prospects and to balance portfolio.
- Timely and accurately input opportunity data into Salesforce to drive pipeline activity, report on progress towards goals, and find areas of improvement.
- Promote and practice inclusive behavior and demonstrate a willingness to learn about the IRC’s commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Required Experience
6-8 years of experience working with individual donors on complex giving conversations.
