Overview

The Education Technical Coordinator is responsible for the overall strategy, management, coordination, and implementation of education activities across Cameroon, ensuring the quality of sectoral interventions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction, leadership, and technical/management support to education programs.
  • Lead and contribute to project design, including budgets, proposal narratives, and log frames.
  • Ensure quality grant management and timely submission of high-quality reports.
  • Coordinate with M&E unit for a robust M&E system and extract key learnings.
  • Coordinate education program activities with other IRC sectors for integration.
  • Organize joint planning meetings and field missions with partners.
  • Lead the education team to implement timely, effective, and high-quality project activities.
  • Ensure detailed implementation plans, spending plans, monitoring plans, and procurement plans are in place.
  • Manage and monitor project budgets and performance.
  • Ensure projects are implemented in accordance with global technical guidelines and best practices.
  • Liaise with Education Technical Advisors and pursue technical guidance.
  • Identify, monitor, and report unmet needs and make recommendations.
  • Provide technical assistance and supportive supervision to education staff.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a coherent education strategy.
  • Supervise and provide technical support to the Education Manager and other education staff.
  • Ensure timely recruitment, onboarding, and wellbeing of team members.
  • Maintain professional relations and promote a strong team spirit.
  • Ensure team members are aware of job expectations and have clear performance objectives.
  • Identify training needs and develop capacity building plans for education staff.
  • Attend technical working group meetings and other relevant coordination structures.
  • Represent IRC in relevant forums/clusters, including with national authorities and donors.
  • Collaborate with other sector technically leads to promote program integration.
  • Play an active role in the execution of the country Strategic Action Plan.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in the management of education programs in emergencies (access, quality, and strengthening the education system) in international NGOs.
  • Previous experience managing diverse teams to deliver results on short timelines.
  • Previous experience in an insecure or conflict-affected setting preferred.
  • Have experience implementing projects funded by ECHO, EU, etc.
Qualifications

Master’s degree in education or other relevant areas.
