Overview
The Global Media Officer will work within a media team to enhance Plan International’s presence across global media and support media relations activity across the federation. The role aims to position Plan International as a leading organisation for children's rights and equality for girls.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on global media monitoring and reporting, including horizon scanning and media hits reports.
- Build relationships with journalists at influential global media outlets to secure high-quality coverage.
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate media and communication strategies.
- Respond to the news agenda, drafting quotes, social media posts, and press releases.
- Respond to journalist inquiries, liaising with experts and country/regional offices.
- Maintain a list of expert and youth spokespeople.
- Provide briefings and training for media spokespeople.
- Produce high-quality media content, including interviews and photography.
- Develop and pitch innovative media packages to print, broadcast, and online media.
- Collaborate with the digital team to amplify media and news content across platforms.
- Ensure visibility of media team work across Plan International.
- Undertake additional duties as requested by the Global Media Manager.
Required Experience
- Proven experience working in a busy news/media organisation or in a PR/media relations team.
- Experience interviewing and working with programme participants in a sensitive way.
- Experience of tailoring communications to different audiences and channels, including media, social media and digital.
