Overview
Consultancy to establish an integrated climate-informed disease early warning system by linking surveillance data with weather and environmental information for climate-sensitive disease early warning systems in Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct desk review of surveillance, climate and environmental information systems.
- Conduct key informant interviews and stakeholder consultations.
- Facilitate joint technical design workshops.
- Analyze interoperability requirements and define use-cases.
- Configure data integration workflows.
- Develop prototypes.
- Conduct user testing and validation exercises.
- Refine following testing.
- Provide training and deployment support.
- Develop a phased national scale-up roadmap.
- Focus on technical, analytical and operational integration of meteorological and environmental data systems with the national electronic Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response platform.
- Assess systems, design data integration, configure predictive analytics, design dashboard and alert workflows, conduct user testing, validate early warning workflows, and plan scale-up.
Required Experience
- Minimum 7 years’ experience of relevant professional experience in public health surveillance, health information systems, epidemiology, climate services, or digital health.
- Demonstrated experience with IDSR, DHIS2, disease surveillance platforms or health information system integration.
- Experience in climate-health data integration, early warning systems, or environmental health surveillance.
- Proven experience facilitating multisectoral technical consultations and workshops.
- Experience working with government institutions and development partners in Tanzania or similar contexts is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in interoperability architecture, APIs, data exchange mechanisms, data warehousing or integration of external datasets into digital health platforms.
- Experience in climate-health data integration, early warning systems, environmental health surveillance, disease modelling or predictive analytics.
Qualifications
Masters Health Informatics, Information System, Public Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Climate Science, computer science or related fields.
