Overview
The National Project Specialist (Epidemiologist) will coordinate the implementation of a World Bank funded project in South Africa focused on strengthening pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response through a One Health Approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead surveillance and epidemiological activities.
- Provide technical support and inputs on disease intelligence.
- Support strengthening of laboratory surveillance systems.
- Conduct epidemiological analyses.
- Develop and customize training curricula.
- Lead training delivery related to epidemiology, surveillance, and response strategies.
- Mentor government veterinary officers and laboratory personnel.
- Support technical monitoring of outputs and outcomes.
- Participate in technical missions.
- Prepare and provide technical reports and briefs.
- Provide evidence for project related decisions.
- Work closely with the National Project Coordinator and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical inputs on project activities with delivery partners.
- Undertake other relevant tasks.
Required Experience
5 years of relevant experience in Animal Health or Production.
Qualifications
University degree in BVSc degree/ Epidemiologist, Registered with Veterinary Statutory Board.
