Overview

The National Project Specialist (Epidemiologist) will coordinate the implementation of a World Bank funded project in South Africa focused on strengthening pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response through a One Health Approach.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead surveillance and epidemiological activities.
  • Provide technical support and inputs on disease intelligence.
  • Support strengthening of laboratory surveillance systems.
  • Conduct epidemiological analyses.
  • Develop and customize training curricula.
  • Lead training delivery related to epidemiology, surveillance, and response strategies.
  • Mentor government veterinary officers and laboratory personnel.
  • Support technical monitoring of outputs and outcomes.
  • Participate in technical missions.
  • Prepare and provide technical reports and briefs.
  • Provide evidence for project related decisions.
  • Work closely with the National Project Coordinator and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical inputs on project activities with delivery partners.
  • Undertake other relevant tasks.
Required Experience

5 years of relevant experience in Animal Health or Production.

Qualifications

University degree in BVSc degree/ Epidemiologist, Registered with Veterinary Statutory Board.
