Overview
Develops, manages, coordinates, networks, implements, and monitors an advocacy and communication strategy to promote awareness, understanding, support, and respect for children’s and women’s rights, and support for UNICEF's mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Country Office maximizes opportunities on priority child rights advocacy initiatives.
- Maintain and develop contact lists of journalists and media outlets.
- Maintain and develop contact lists of individuals, groups, and organizations whose support is essential for advocacy and communication objectives.
- Maintain and develop contact lists of nationally-known personalities to support UNICEF's efforts.
- Integrate and take action on UNICEF’s global communications priorities and campaigns.
- Ensure fund-raising activities are supported by effective advocacy and communication strategy.
- Manage human and financial resources for the communication team and budget.
- Establish communication baselines for evaluation and analysis of strategy effectiveness.
- Provide professional expertise and advice on external relations communication.
- Identify and address opportunities for building communication capacity.
Required Experience
Minimum Five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communication, print, broadcast, and/or new media.
Qualifications
Advanced University Degree in the field of journalism, communications, external relations, public affairs, public relations or corporate communications.
