Overview
The Livelihood Officer will implement livelihood activities under Save the Children’s DRA Innovation Project, focusing on capacity building, market linkages, and job creation in targeted communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support capacity building of FSL assistants, community mobilizers and livelihood beneficiaries.
- Take part in community-based mobilization and sensitization meetings.
- Support in development of project monitoring tools and livelihood related training materials.
- Finalize project locations and project beneficiaries targeting strategy and criteria.
- Ensure community based targeting follows SCI and donor guidelines.
- Ensured integration of accountability mechanisms at the community level.
- Conducted awareness sessions and community meetings.
- Monitored field-level activities and provided regular feedback.
- Collected, documented, and reported community concerns, challenges, and feedback.
- Led the implementation of Livelihood and Cash for Work (CfW) projects.
- Supervised CfW activities such as rehabilitation of community assets.
- Facilitated participatory, community-driven processes.
- Participated in coordination meetings with the government and partner organizations.
- Maintained strong communication between the community and the project team.
- Support implementation of agriculture interventions.
- Coordination with local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders.
- Identifying, verifying, and registering beneficiaries.
- Organizing and overseeing daily work activities.
- Coordinating with cash service providers for payments.
- Maintaining accurate records.
- Support the Project Coordinator in development of project procurement plan and project detailed implementation plan.
- Ensure transparent and accountable cash transfer mechanisms.
- Support Save the Children’s procurement team in procurement of required goods.
- Support the labor market assessment.
- Conduct training needs assessment with beneficiaries and support implementation of training courses.
- Ensure timely collection of data for baseline, midterm, and endline assessments.
- Collaborate with Project Coordinator, officers, community mobilizers, and MEAL staff to design community mobilization strategy and project implementation plans.
- Support the development of Plans and market linkages for target communities.
- Identify potential market actors, input suppliers, and buyers.
- Develop project weekly and monthly narrative reports.
- Ensure all intervention documentation is complete, accurate, and well‑organized.
- Assist joint monitoring visits with the government officials.
- Establish positive working relationships with local communities, provincial/district government officials and NGOs representatives.
- Ensure that all projects are equipped with MEAL systems.
- Ensure action plans from quality monitoring and accountability systems are generated and implemented.
- Contribute to generation of lessons through finalizing issues for Operations Research and participating in lessons learnt workshops.
Required Experience
Strong expertise in livelihood programming for 5 years. Experience implementing agriculture, livestock, or market‑based livelihood interventions in rural contexts. Maturity and confidence in dealing with the staff of government institutions, and communities.
Qualifications
University degree in Agriculture, or any other relevant technical credential
