The Representative, Human Rights, P5 role is responsible for following human rights developments in the region, providing advice, and developing strategic relationships with UN Country Teams. The position aims to advise and support UN partner agencies and governments on human rights matters.
A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in human rights field at the national and international level is required. Experience in developing, implementing and coordinating strategies and programmes related to human rights is required. At least five (5) years of experience in managing teams (3+ staff) is required. Experience working in the region of deployment or in comparable regional contexts is desirable. At least five (5) years of experience working in field-based human rights work in OHCHR, other United Nations Entities, or comparable international organizations, is desirable.
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, human rights, political science, international relations or related relevant discipline. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
