Overview

Coordinate and manage a designated project and/or thematic portfolio within the Energy and Environment Unit, ensuring alignment with UNDP policies and project objectives. Provide technical guidance, strategic support, and partnership development.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day organizational and substantive issues, budgeting, planning, and monitoring of projects.
  • Provide technical coordination and strategic guidance on natural resources management, water resources, critical materials, sustainable industrial development, and circular economy.
  • Develop Annual Work Plans and support Project Board decision-making.
  • Coordinate project exit strategies and ensure adherence to closure procedures.
  • Provide policy advice and support capacity development of national counterparts.
  • Develop and implement M&E plans, monitor progress, manage risks, and prepare donor reports.
  • Oversee financial monitoring and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders, including national counterparts, international financial institutions, and the private sector.
  • Identify and mobilize new partnerships and funding sources.
  • Facilitate knowledge and capacity building, knowledge sharing, and advocacy.
  • Support the establishment of knowledge platforms and develop knowledge resources.
Required Experience

Minimum 2 years (with master’s degree) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience at the national or international level in providing management advisory services, and/or hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation, leading and managing development projects. Experience in the use of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and web-based management systems, and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages. Knowledge and experience in relevant thematic area (water resources management, natural resources, critical materials, mining, metallurgy, climate change, biodiversity, circular economy or sustainable industrial development). Desired: Working experience with ministries and/or other national institutions, ability to work effectively with partners at all levels and with all groups. Working experience within the UN system in implementing development projects. Knowledge and experience in one or more thematic areas such as water resources management, natural resources, critical materials, mining, metallurgy, circular economy, climate change or environmental governance.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Geology, Mining, Metallurgy, Economics, Social Sciences or other related sciences is required; OR A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above with additional 2 years of relevant experience.
