Overview

The Technical Manager will co-lead the implementation of project activities in the Mountain Region, focusing on strengthening urban resilience and localizing sustainable development goals.


Key Responsibilities
  • Technically coordinate urban and climate resilience awareness activities.
  • Prepare and review deliverables.
  • Gather inputs and coordinate the preparation of workplans, progress reports, and expenditure reports.
  • Ensure programme implementation as per the work plan.
  • Establish systems for programme planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks to products.
  • Provide information for systematization and exchange of successful practices.
  • Ensure technical activities align with quality expectations.
  • Provide technical support on localizing international agreements.
  • Record and maintain documents on programme activities, issues, and risks.
  • Maintain relationships with local partners.
  • Ensure effective communication with counterparts and local partners.
  • Identify capacity building needs and support partners.
  • Gather and compile information for monitoring and reporting.
  • Monitor the implementation of activities and expenditure of funds.
  • Document product implementation.
  • Contribute to the exchange of information and development of knowledge products.
  • Coordinate the organization of trainings, workshops, events, and knowledge products.
  • Attend meetings and conferences promoted by partners.
  • Undertake other duties within expertise to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
  • Complete indicated courses and training activities.
  • Comply with United Nations security mechanisms.
Required Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in project coordination, team leadership, technical advisory, and/or community mobilization on topics related to urban development or disaster risk management in Brazil is required. Professional experience on themes related to public policies, public administration, sustainability, social and urban development, public spaces, articulation and coordination of stakeholders on implementation of policies and projects is required. Experience related to climate change is desirable. Experience related to reducing the risk of disaster is desirable. Previous experience within the UN System is desirable.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism, Environmental Engineering, Geography, or related fields is required, or additional three (3) years of relevant experience to the post, beyond the requirement. Postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu) in Civil Protection, Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change Adaptation, or related fields is desirable.
