Overview

Consultant to provide technical support and advisory services to develop a framework for leveraging diaspora contributions to development in Egypt.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare an inception report detailing the work plan and conceptual framework.
  • Assess the existing framework, data, and information on institutional, regulatory, and financial aspects related to remittances and their contribution to sustainable development in Egypt.
  • Identify gaps and challenges in building an effective framework to optimize diaspora contributions and channel remittances to investments.
  • Review Egypt's investment environment to attract remittances and diaspora savings.
  • Develop and propose an effective regulatory and institutional framework with policy reforms and strategic tools tailored to the needs of the Egyptian Diaspora.
  • Elaborate a detailed roadmap and action plan to establish the identified framework and leverage diaspora investments.
  • Participate in national, regional, and subregional discussions and workshops.
  • Design and implement two workshops: one mid-term to discuss preliminary results and a final workshop to present the framework and action plan.
Required Experience

A minimum of seven years of experience in economic research and analysis is required. Experience in analytical policy research in economies, or macroeconomic analysis in Africa/North Africa is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Masters' degree) in economics, international economics, Finances (Statistics, Development Economics, etc.) or any related field is required. A PhD would be an advantage.
